Peplum Top

One of the things I love about pattern testing is that it takes me out of my comfort zone. I have tested some things I never thought I would make for myself or daughter but I end up really liking them later. This shirt right here was one of those items. I didn't really think I was a peplum kinda gal. I'm still not sure but this particular one, and the pants to go with it, feel so cool and flirty and girly and I'm loving it. I feel like I need to go out somewhere fun in this top. And I'm thinking of making one in a go-to black so yay for stepping out of my comfort zone.

Pattern: Ladies Peplum Top is available June 20-27 as part of the bundle up pattern sale here. After that it will be available at Jocole.
Size Cut: I cut a small. This pattern uses the same block as the crossover tunic and essential tee of Jocole's and so I've discovered that I'm a small when using those patterns. It makes me nervous to cut patterns labeled small because I don't feel like a "small" person so I measured the waist seam on the paper pattern and doubled it and it was only an inch smaller than my waist. After seam allowance it would be another 3/4 of an inch smaller but with a shirt that has stretch I figured that was ok.
Textile Used: I used a knit I found on the bargain table at Hancock's... really love that store. I've recently rediscovered them and I can't get enough. Anyway it's a white base with a gold stripe. Not something I would normally pick but it just seemed perfect. I think it may be an interlock... but I'm not sure because there was no info about it.
The Good: This top sews up quickly and is so fun to wear.
The Bad: None. Isn't that great?!?!
Changes Made: None this time. I made it just like the pattern directed. I did use my trusty steam a seam to fold down and attach the neckline and hem the bottom of the peplum piece.
Changes for Next Time: I might lengthen the bodice pieces an inch since I have a longer torso.
Conclusion: Super cute top and an easy sew.
