#DIY Chevron Dresses using S2599

Hi all,

I sewed up several things last week and I'll be sharing them this week. Nap time has become my sewing time... and I've been plowing through my stash... which means I want/need to buy more fabric ;)

Well I admit that I'm still obsessed with chevron. Maybe not obsessed. Either way I love those chevron dresses that we've all seen but I needed something less fussy and knee length. I didn't want to have to add another layer to an outfit by using a skirt extender... though I've seen cute ones. One of the reasons I'm sewing more for myself is to eliminate unwanted layers. I can sew clothes that cover where I want to be covered. It's liberating.

I bought my fabric from girlcharlee

Anyway I made 2 dresses using my TNT (tried and true) S2599 pattern. I love this pattern and keep finding more ways to use it.

Pattern: S2599

Pattern Sizing: I cut the 12 but because I used a knit I had to add an inch to the neckline and then ended up with a 2 inch seam allowance... because I was using a knit for a pattern designed to be used on a woven fabric... I'm sure there is a better way to do this but that's just what I ended up doing.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done with it? Sort of... not really. I lengthened the sleeves and hem and made it into a dress.
Were the instructions easy to follow? At this point I don't even read them. I'm sure they are but I just do my own thing.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love this pattern. It's just a great basic that I can build off of.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Lengthened the sleeves and hem.

Would you sew it again? Yes. I think I want to make a maxi out of it in the near future.

Would you recommend it to others? Yes

I love that it's a dress I can just throw on and go run errands with the kids. It's so hot here that pants and jeans are just too heavy. I think I'll be wearing dresses and skirts the rest of the summer.
